Starfish Vocal Studio provides vocal coaching to all ages and all levels.Currently based in Dee Why and Gladesville Sydney NSW.Students are encouraged to enjoy music while improving their confidence & skill. Classes are offered for beginners, through to professional students of all ages. Starfish Vocal Studio has a fresh take on old methods to ensure students are up to date with the demands of the modern singer. Our students perform regularly at community events and competitions through to paid gigs, and we have nurtured students to a tertiary level. If you want to become a singer who has the skills to tackle even the most difficult contemporary repertoire without straining, and understanding how to give an exciting and emotional performance then you have come to he right place. At Starfish Vocal Studio we blend the science of the voice and the magic of performance to create confident and brilliant performers.In 2009 Starfish Vocal Studio began offering digital analysis of each students voice to assist in the learning process.

Kidz Starfish KidsStudents are encouraged to enjoy Music while improving their confidence and skill. Children also benefit from learning practical skills such as memorising lyrics and diction in a fun learning environment. Our young students perform regularly at Eisteddfods and other community events. At Starfish Vocal Studio we blend the science of the voice and the magic of performance to create confident and brilliant performers.

Alison MurphySVS Director & Principle Vocal Coach Vocal Technique Specialist
Alison has extensive experience in teaching many styles of singing, and her fresh take on old methods ensure her students are up to date with the demands of the modern singer.She has performed in the bands Champagne on Tap and Alison & Kirk who were agency backed cover bands which saw Alison perform around Sydney and the central coast as the lead singer. Her solo career has seen Alison perform solo at the Sydney Opera House, and the Sydney 2000 Olympics to an estimated 30,000 people. She has also worked as a session singer for songwriters submitting songs for music publishers.Alison has been teaching singing for over 9 years, she began teaching at Gecko Music in 2002 then moved to Commotion Performing Arts and then started her own business Starfish Vocal Studio.Alison has accumulated her skills through numerous avenues. Alison has hands on experience in the music industry from performance and also song writing with published award winning songwriters. She has received a Certificate IV in music performance with Distinction, and in the past had private singing tuition and coaching for contemporary and classical voice with several private music institutions. She has also done numerous courses including Voice Craft (learning to treat voice disorders), The Estill Method (the science of the voice and applications to singing). Alison is also a full member of the Australian National Association of Teachers of Singing (ANATS).Throughout Alison's career she has thrived on helping students achieve their potential, and over the past few years has found a passion in the therapy and prevention of voice disorders. She has been developing her teaching by studying numerous singing models to give her students the skills to tackle even the most difficult contemporary repertoire without straining, and understanding how to give an exciting and emotional performance. Alison has a strong grasp of the anatomical structure of the voice and its function.

Emma Waugh ~ Singing Teacher

Emma has immense experience within the music industry. She has been performing since she was very young and has a flare for the behind the scenes work that enables our music stars to be successful both nationally and internationally. Emma has worked full time for major record labels Sony BMG and Warner Music for the last 5 years in their marketing department, and has worked along side some of Australias biggest artists. Her work has allowed her to understand all of the aspects that are needed to be successful in the current music market including whats required to land your dream record deal and what skills are needed. Emma has been singing for the last 15 years, her performance experience includes singing at weddings, birthday parties and other functions. When she was younger she was even named Umina Idol after winning the central coast eisteddfod. Recently she even sang in the choir as a part of Wes Carr's performance of Feels Like Woah for the recording used for the Sunday Herald. Emma started as a student at Starfish Vocal Studio and her dedication has seen her excel. Emma has a passion and great exposure to all genres of music but excels in the Pop/ RnB / Soul world.

itunes has a huge selection of backing tracks (karaoke) now available. You will need to download the itunes program and set up an account to start purchasing backing tracks. You can get an itunes gift card at stores including Target and Myer rather than using a credit card online.Most of the songs from ameritz are available on itunes at a cheaper price.
Starfish Vocal Studio can email you files containing scales, arpeggios and exercises. This program shows the notation, and can play the file to sing along with. You can use the reader version for free, you will not be able to edit the files though.For those of you that are more enthusiastic you can purchase the notepad version for only about $10, and then you can start writing your own songs or exercises.
